The Giza Pyramid complex was established in 2,500BC and is home to the Great Pyramid, otherwise known as the tomb of Pharoah Khufu, which is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It also houses the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, as well as the Great Sphinx. Together, the Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of Khafre are the largest of all the pyramids. The Giza Pyramid complex forms the northernmost part of the UNESCO World Heritage Pyramid Fields. The Pyramids of Giza are about 30 minutes by car from Cairo.

Located in central Cairo, within easy distance of many 5 star hotels in Egypt, the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is the largest museum in Africa, with the largest collection of Egyptian antiques and antiquities in the world. Of the more than 170,000 pieces it houses from 5500 BC to AD 364, a large, representative example are on display to the public. Established in 1382 as a marketplace and venue for political gatherings, Khan El Khalili Bazaar is now the largest souk in the Middle East. A sprawling bazaar with over 4,000 outlets selling everything from jewellery and trinkets to spices, lanterns and traditional art. Stop for shisha or coffee and take your time exploring the myriad of winding lanes and alleys. The best time to visit Egypt’s Khan El Khalili Bazaar is in the early morning or afternoon. Evenings and weekends are busiest.
